Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was critically injured a few weeks ago after a tractor-trailer rammed into his chauffeured limousine bus, setting off a chain-reaction crash that left a fellow comedian dead and two others seriously hurt. A truck driver from Georgia was charged with death by auto in the crash that killed Morgan’s mentor as the group traveled home from a standup comedy show in Delaware. The fatality occurred after the Mercedes limo bus carrying seven people overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury Township at about 1 a.m. Tracy Morgan and another passenger were flown from the accident scene to the hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.
A case of distracted or impaired driving was reported in yesterday’s news and it did not involve drugs or alcohol. One man was killed and another man critically injured early Saturday when the driver of a vehicle hit them on the side of I-15, the Utah Highway Patrol reported. The responsible driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.
News reports indicated that a Salt Lake City bicyclist had been stuck by a teen driver who was texting on his phone while in the Canyons on a winding road. The bicyclist was severely injured when the teen veered into the bicyclist as he lost control on a curve in the road. These accidents are all to frequent where drivers are distracted whether it’s talking on the phone, texting, eating in the car etc.
