Holiday shopping can be enjoyable and stressful at the same time. One thing that is never enjoyable and always stressful is navigating your way through the parking lot. How many times have you stretched your neck to see if there is a free spot hiding behind a big car just to see a little car? How many times have you slyly stalked shoppers leaving the store so you can steal their spot?
Let's be honest. We have all been there. We will do anything to get the perfect parking spot. And that's not necessarily a bad thing but here are some things you can do to take the stress out of getting that perfect spot!
Drive slow! Pedestrians can be unpredictable and often walk in the middle of the driving lane. Little children sometimes stray away from their groups and dart in and out from cars. Other shoppers may be in a hurry to get to their next destination and may suddenly begin reversing quickly out into the driving lane (if it’s a good spot, make sure you grab it!)
Follow the directional arrows! This simple rule will help you stay with the same direction of traffic and will also make parking more convenient and safe, especially with angled parking spots. If you are following the correct arrows you shouldn't find yourself head to head with another vehicle.
Check and double check before backing out! You can never look over your shoulder too many times when reversing at any location. Watch for pedestrians again. Watch for other cars hunting down a prime spot who haven't noticed your brake lights. ‘Tis the season to be Jolly….let’s keep it that way!
