Every year we adopt a charity to participate in a fund raising campaign and to raise awareness in our own community for charities around the nation. For the last 5 years, our associate Sallie Rawlings and our former California Office manage, Kelley Younger participated in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer research held in San Diego, California.
This year they will be attending and participating in The Kelly Cares Foundation Football 101 in South Bend, Indiana. This charity was founded by University of Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly and his wife, Paqui, and the event will be held from 5-10 p.m. on June 11 on the University campus.
Football 101 gives women at least 21 years old a tutorial session on football basics, an opportunity to meet the Notre Dame football coaching staff, learn Fighting Irish football trivia and enjoy an upscale taste of area restaurants. A reception will occur from 5-6:30 p.m. inside the stadium where patrons will be able to meet Notre Dame's coaching staff and browse through items for the evening's raffle.
After the reception, participants will be split into groups and travel from station to station. The Fighting Irish coaching staff will teach the basics of football form and technique, including passing, catching and kicking footballs, on the LaBar practice fields. Patrons actually participate in these drills! That should make for interesting pictures and you tube video, so stay tuned! Proceeds from Football 101 benefit breast cancer prevention, awareness and early detection initiatives chosen by Kelly Cares Foundation.
